Key guidelines

A few essentials — full details on the submission form:

  Composers must attend in person (a few virtual slots available, with preference for international applicants).

  Pieces of any length eligible; priority given to works under 15 minutes.

​​​

 Works composed within the previous five years are encouraged.

 For award consideration, remove all names from scores and recordings (judged anonymously).

 Composers provide computer-generated PDF parts; transposing scores where applicable.

 Festival selections announced March 31, 2027.

Two $1000 travel scholarships encourage a broad spectrum of diversity at the festival — one specifically designated for a Black composer, addressing historical inequality in American composition.

After selections are announced, we'll publish a travel guide with discounted hotel rates and a free shuttle schedule. Professional audio recordings are provided to composers at no charge after the festival.
