Violinist Mia Detwiler has performed as a soloist and chamber musician in numerous venues throughout the U.S. and abroad. An enthusiastic advocate for contemporary music, she enjoys collaborating with living composers and has premiered over 70 new works. She performs regularly with Duo Chromatica and Sounds Modern and has performed with NOVA Ensemble, ensemble75, NuAtmospheres, and the Arizona Contemporary Music Ensemble. She is a founding member of Amorsima Trio, with whom she commissioned and premiered 21 miniatures in response to Beethoven’s 250th birthday. She has been featured as a performer in contemporary music festivals around the globe including the Foro Internacional de Música Nueva Manuel Enríquez, New Music Gathering, Festival of New Music, Days of New Music, ICMC, June in Buffalo, CEMICircles, and Electric LaTex. Recent performance highlights include a residency with Amorsima Trio at MISE-EN_PLACE as collaborators in the Ha-Mirza Project and a guest artist recital with Duo Chromatica on the Kaleidoscope MusArt Series. She holds a Doctor of Musical Arts from the University of North Texas, where she studied with Felix Olschofka and served as Violin Teaching Fellow.
