Steven Cunningham

Innovative, unique, gifted.... just a few words to describe Dr. Steven Cunningham.

Beginning his trumpet career at the age of 12, in the small town of Dinwiddie, VA; with over 15 years of experience Steven B. Cunningham brings it all. Based in Richmond, VA and the DC Metropolitan area you can expect to hear an array of different genres. Genres ranging from classical, jazz and funk, to salsa, blues and gospel; Steven first knew trumpet was his calling after writing his first tune entitled The Red Star.

"I had no idea how to write harmony, but I did know how to write melody..." -S. Cunningham

In 2014, while working on his doctorate at the University of Maryland College Park, SBC Music was born. "I wanted to be known not just as a trumpet player, but as an artist." Since 2014 SBC Music has gone mainstream playing on various albums and performing live on various stages. The most notable, playing at the DAR Constitution Hall in Washington DC and as a guest soloist with Josh Groban.

By entertaining and enriching humanity through musical performance, composition, and education, Steven Cunningham wants to take SBC Music to the top!
