Nancy Carey

A new music enthusiast and ambassador, soprano Nancy Carey has performed with New Music on the Bayou for three years. Her experience with performing works by living composers began in 2015 when she workshopped and premiered Destiny: Hope, a critically acclaimed chamber opera by composer Costas Dafnis. She has been featured on composer-in-residence concerts with Jake Heggie at University of Memphis and Douglas Hedwig at University of Louisiana at Monroe. Other recent solo engagements include concerts with Monroe Symphony Orchestra, Shreveport Symphony Orchestra, South Arkansas Symphony Orchestra, Bayou Masterworks Chorus, and Prisma Vocal Ensemble.

She completed a Doctor of Musical Arts degree at the University of Memphis, and holds a Master of Music degree from Louisiana State University. Dr. Carey is a Visiting Assistant Professor of Music at University of Louisiana at Monroe where she teaches voice, aural skills, and music theory courses.
